Q. I think I have downloaded the Demo properly, but when I try to install it, I can't find the file to start the installation. OK. I believe you have downloaded the update and it is on your computer somewhere, but you are having problems finding the download. Here is a way to find a file on your computer when it seems to have disappeared. Close all open windows on your computer until you are left with only the bare Windows Desktop (the startup screen with your icons on it) Click the Start button at the bottom left corner of the screen. A menu will appear and one of the options will be either Search or Find (depending on which version of Windows you are using). Choose that option. You will see an application which will help you search for a file on your computers. One of the options you will see is to search for "Files and Folders". Choose that option. You will then see a screen like the one pictured here (with the exception of the search results, initially). The one pictured here is the Windows XP version. Yours may look a bit different, but it will be similar.
You will have a field in which to type the filename of the file you are looking for. If you are looking for the DCMS Update, you should type DCMSUPDT.EXE. If you are looking for the Re-Installation Update, you should type in DCMSDEMO.EXE (like I typed above in the field in the example). Then click the Search or Find button to start searching your computer for the mislaid file. After several moments, you should see some search results, telling you the name of any file(s) that were found. If the file is on your computer, it should show up here, as pictured above. If you have more than one copy of the searched-for file, then right-click on the filename in the search results. A pop-up menu will appear and you will be able to choose the Properties option. In the Properties screen, you will see the date of creation of the file. Obviously, you will want to use the newest file. To start the Update Installation program, simply double-click on the filename in the search results window, and the installation will start from wherever you have downloaded it to. Hope that helps.
