DCMS Program Troubleshooting Answers                            Back

Q.     When I record a sale, the taxes are being calculated wrong (or not being calculated at all).

When you first installed the DCMS, you were asked for the tax rate in your area. It is possible that you either skipped the fields or entered the wrong information. No problem, we can fix it.

Go to the Utilities menu and choose the first option  "Configure the DCMS".  On the first page, please confirm that the "Country" field of your personal information is correct, since the financial questions are different for each country.

With the correct country chosen, click on the "Finance" tab at the bottom of the screen. On the Finance page, you will be asked for the tax rate(s) in your area. Enter them in the fields provided. Please note that the rates allow for up to three decimals of percentage and that the tax rates are asked for in percentages. For instance, if a tax rate is  7%, then you need to enter   "7.000" in the field. If your tax rate is 6 1/4%, then you should enter  6.250 in the field.

Once you have the correct tax information entered, the sales receipts should print out properly.

Please note that sales receipts entered before you corrected the tax rate won't be changed retro-actively.
