DCMS Refund Policy                                                    Back to Info Page

I am often asked if I have a refund policy.

The short answer is that I do not have a refund policy. In fact, I can't think of any software company that offers refunds on opened software, except for trial versions. I wish it were different, because I would have saved thousands of dollars on software that looked good on the shelf, but was unusable. To test this yourself, go to any software retailer and ask if you can bring a program back for a full refund if you find out that you don't like it. I doubt you will find any retailer who will say yes to that.

The long answer is that, once opened and in your computer, I cannot take the software back. More implicitly, I cannot take back the license for you to use the program, since that is really what you are buying, a license to use the software for your business. That license cannot be revoked any more than an author can take back the knowledge you gained from a book he wrote after you read it (whether you liked the book or not).

I know that doesn't sound very "Go-Give", but it is a fact of life in the software publishing business. I have had people send back the software for a refund because:

  • they got out of the Mary Kay business; or
  • they found out they didn't have the time for it; or
  • they didn't like working on computers; or
  • they found a less expensive program elsewhere and want to save some money; or
  • (in some cases), it wouldn't run on their computers.
Except for the first reason, over which I have no control, I provide a demo version of the program on this web site, which a potential user can download and use for free for 28 days. This demo is a full, working installation of the Career Set of the program. The only two restrictions in the demo version are:
  • the program stops working 28 days after you first use it (although the data stays intact as long as you keep it on your computer, so if you decide to buy the DCMS later, the data will still be there); and
  • the "registered user name" is DCMS Demo User, which will appear on all of your bills and form letters instead of your own name
Other than that, the program is a full, up-to-date, working version of the DCMS. If it doesn't work in your computer, neither will the production version. The demo program will show you if the program will work in your computer and if it will be something that you will use. Very few companies allow you to use the full program that they market, and none of my competitors do. If, after 28 days, you find that the DCMS is worthwhile and you want to purchase the program, you can do so without having to worry if you can get a refund.  Again, I wish that I had the chance to test drive a couple of $700 - $1500 programs I have bought in my life that are now gathering dust on my shelves.

Anyway, if you want to try the demo program,  click here  and try it out for a few weeks. While you are trying the demo, if you have any questions or problems, give me a shout at (613) 834-0049. I can usually straighten out any problem in minutes. There is also a Demo Troubleshooting page on this website.

Hope that answers your question. By the way, thank you for researching the question before purchasing the program.
