There's Something Inside

Inside every living being
there is a reason to be.
For we are not put on this earth
to be nothing.

Deep inside every person
there is the potential to be great.
For God did not preconceive
which one of us will excel.

It is up to us to choose the path,
to find the greatness inside ...
to choose which fork in the road
will take us to our own destiny.

It does not matter
what greatness you find ...
only that you not settle for just being,
but rather strive to be great.
 

We are the ones who can decide
just what we are to be.
And all the options can be tried ...
to stand ... to kneel ... to flee.

To choose the path that will return
the you that is the best,
will win you hardship, but you'll learn
to toil at every test.

No path to greatness ever seemed
the easy one to take.
But once it's trod, it can be deemed
'twas needed - so to break

the mould of insignificance
we struggle to deny.
We cannot leave it all to chance
We must the work apply.

For no one reaches for the ring
without first reaching in
to find the most important thing
that causes us to win.

It's not the mind, so brave and strong
that brings us to the start.
But knowing all the worlds belong
to a loving, caring heart.

Within your heart there lies the germ
that really is the key.
Nurture it and you'll confirm
the you that you could be.

The saddest words t'were ever spoke
when we are laid to rest,
is what potential laid untouched
and dormant in our breast.

For in each soul there lays the seed
of greatness to be found.
And if you find it, you'll be blessed
and happiness abound.

To do the things that could be done
not waste the time of day
on matters trite, of pence and pound
and what the people say.

To right the wrongs that have been done
by people less than you,
who cannot choose the part they play
nor see the harm they do.

To reach inside and touch the seed
and feel it in your heart.
To choose the path and see it through.
To finish what you start.

There is no one to tell you where.
The seed is where you'll find.
I only know it's in your heart
moreso than in your mind.

Think not of riches or of fame
to search for greatness true.
But rather riches of the kind
where good things come from you.

A giving heart will be the start
to find the seed within.
For this is nothing less than true ...
your giving makes you win.

Find the greatness you can be
by giving all the way.
For great are they who give and share
their greatness every day.

The task at hand is something that
you never thought you'd do.
A chore so large, you haven't got
a chance to see it through.

One person cannot even start
to climb the mountain high.
The bravest soul, the purest heart -
alone - could never fly.

But when we multiply our deeds
by leading many more,
we gain the talent that one needs.
We're stronger than before.

The task no longer daunts us now.
For taken as a team,
we work together - that is how
we reach and touch our dream.

We each accomplish what we can
and that is how it starts.
Our talents shared, we're greater than
the sum of all our parts.

No man's an island - that is true.
I must on you rely.
Together though, so much we'll do
and to the stars we'll fly!

From where you sit, it may seem like
a million miles away.
So why should you begin the hike?
Why waste another day?

You set your goal and there it sits
so big and out of reach.
But broken into little bits
you can accomplish each.

The journey of a thousand miles
is started with one stride.
And step by step, the trip compiles
as effort is applied.

Keep final goals within your sight ...
but not so you forget
what must be done before tonight
and risk a day's regret.

To eat the elephant you'll see
it's better bite by bite.
So strive for some consistency
and curb your appetite ...

for quick achievement of that quest
that lies so far away.
The steady path is always best,
if taken every day.

It never comes to those who wait.
It comes to those who go.
Good thoughts alone cannot create.
To reap you first must sow.

To lay the groundwork you must be
prepared to toil long.
Apply yourself consistently -
your efforts to prolong.

The path you take - that upward slope -
will sometimes seem quite steep.
At first it seems too hard to cope.
You'll stumble and you'll creep.

But then your feet begin to find
some surer footfalls where
you start to leave your doubts behind.
You've boldness now to spare.

To get to walk the higher ground
you have to conquer hills.
And so in life - it's all around -
a strength of purpose fills

you with the need to set your sights
to reach the mountain's top.
Remember as you climb those heights
You'll stumble - just don't stop!

No mountain can withstand its might.
No sea s too wide to span.
No darkness can deny its light.
For what it wants - it can!

There's none can stop its mighty force.
There is no quick relief.
No one can sway you from your course
if you just have belief.

Belief can take you where you would
have never dared of dreamed.
It should be hard, you know it should.
It's easier than it seemed.

Believe in you and you will see
just what there is in store.
Some small belief can be the key
that opens up the door

that lies between you and your goal,
whatever it may be.
Believe with all your heart and soul
and it's a certainty.

Imagine as each day unfolds
and wondrous things achieve.
Just think of what tomorrow holds
if you will just believe!

To be a winner you must set
your sights and see them through.
To be a leader's harder yet
for others need you too.

Now leadership is something that
is not within you bred.
It doesn't spring from habitat
nor bounds into your head.

It comes from lessons lived and learned
and followed every day.
Like pennies saved are pennies earned,
you gain them on your way.

The first and most important one
to put upon your shelf ...
Don't ask of others something done,
you wouldn't do yourself.

Set standards of high quality.
Then be yourself no worse.
They'll meet those virtues if they see
that you achieved them first.

Next understand each heart-felt dream
of where they want to be.
Then work together as a team
to help them to achieve ...

their own perceptions of what they
hold as a special goal.
Each small success in every way
contributes to the whole.

Remember as you lead the way
that loyalty s like glue.
Make all you do and all you say
show they can count on you.

To be a leader you must set
your sights and see them through.
And put a little honest sweat
in every thing you do.

Believe you can ... or think you can't.
Whichever way ... you're right!
For seeds of doubt today you plant
can grow to fears tonight.

Convince yourself that you can do
whatever comes to mind.
Forget your fear. Let faith break through.
I'm sure that you will find ...

success lives where your doubts are not
allowed to see the light.
Dwell rather on the strengths you've got
to carry to the fight.

Look only to the goal ahead,
not on the rocks and shoals.
Think merely of success instead.
You will attain your goals.

A mind unshackled can achieve
the greatest feat or deed.
When you can manage to believe,
in you - it's all you need.

Some deeds are simple. Some are more
unthinkable to reach.
Work hard at every task and chore.
You will accomplish each.

And last take heed that each success
can cost a price to gain.
Do not begin the task unless
the end is worth the pain.

Then strive to live a life fulfilled
and follow this advice.
You'll reach the top if you're instilled
to work and pay the price.

Look yourself over and know what you see
affects all the things you will do.
All that you are now ... and all that you ll be ...
depends upon how you see you.

If you can evision that you will achieve
whatever you set as your goal,
then it will be simpler, cause when you believe
in yourself, you re in total control.

The confidence in your ability must
be the most daunting aspect to find.
Suspend all your fears for a moment and trust ...
and search in your heart ... not your mind.

Desire can be your most trusted ally.
For with it comes willingness too.
Harness your yearnings and you will know why
you ll gladly do what you must do.

Then work hard and focus on your chosen dreams ...
for effort will help you achieve.
You ll savour successes more oft than it seems
and soon you ll learn how to believe.

But til you can see all the great things you ll do ...

Just let my belief in you carry you through.
For I have enough for us both.

From fear you will have some relief.
