Q.    You say the DCMS is an "Integrated System". Can you explain what that means?

When I talk about integration, I mean that every part of this very big program works hand-in-glove with every other part. If you enter or change some data in one part of the program, it is changed wherever that data is used. As well, intelligent design coordinates  the effects of all changes or additions and deletions, wherever they occur in the program.

For instance, let's say the DCMS tells you (through the "Buzz" ) that it's been two months since you last called one of your customers, Marg Thomas. You call her and then enter the Record a Sale function in the program and record the fact that you had a reorder phone call with Marg Thomas this evening. Let's say she bought the TimeWise Cleanser, TimeWise Moisturizer (both for the first time), a replenishment of her Foundation, and a black waterproof mascara. Let's say you also gave Marg a 10% discount on the sale. Here's what happens as a result of recording that sale:

  • you will get a receipt printed (optionally) to give to Marg - calculated to the penny
  • you can print a letter to her thanking her for her purchase and inviting referrals
  • the items she bought will be taken off your inventory holdings
  • Marg will be annotated as a TimeWise customer, and a Basic customer if she wasn't before
  • Marg's purchase history record will be updated with the products bought
  • Marg's Last Contact field will be updated to today and her Next Contact date will be calculated as 2 months from now (unless you specify different). The Buzz will tell you to call again in 2 months
  • an Accomplishment Sheet line for the re-order will be initiated including the time, calls, orders, basics sold, sales total, taxes recovered, and taxes lost to the discount
  • an entry will be made in your Annual Sales Report for your Accountant at the end of the year
  • the taxes lost due to the discount will be remembered so you can recover them either through deductions from tax payable at the end of the tax year (or in Canada through the GST/PST Refund Claim - which the DCMS will fill out for you)
  • each item purchase will be recorded so you can get a listing of the purchase history of each item (i.e. how long did it take to sell 5 of this item and who bought them) and a best selling items list
  • the items sold will trigger (optionally) a suggested re-order of those products so you can top-up your shelves with your next order to the company.
There's more, but that's all I can think of now. The whole program is like that. Enter a small bit of data here, and it comes out all over the program, affecting and reacting with other bits of data to give you a complete, integrated view of your entire business.
