Recording Business Expenses for Tax Purposes

To the right is the screen where you record your business expenses. You are asked who you paid, how much and when. (The GST references are for the Canadian Goods and Services tax and only appear if you tell the DCMS that you are registered to collect that tax) The 26 categories are up to you (and your accountant) to determine. Each of those categories can further be sub-categorized into 26 subcategorizes, giving you ultimate flexibility in reporting exactly where you spent your money. It takes about 30 seconds per receipt, which means about 25 minutes a month to enter your receipts. The pay off? How about tax records ready for your accountant at the end of the year in less than 5 minutes!
