Motivated by:  It is wonderful helping others reach their God-given talents even though they often don't realize that they are capable themselves and just go on and do it anyway. When they are exited and happy, I am very motivated.

My best asset: Faith. Believing it before it is actually seen.

Faith. Love. Generosity. Talking to Doreen Burggraf reaffirms the belief that there are good people in the world who are willing to give of themselves. She is proof that if you do good things, good things will happen to you. Doreen is Canada’s 14th Independent National Sales Director, but she’s quick to say she didn’t do it on her own. She credits the love and support of her family - especially her husband, Owen - and a pivotal experience with Mary Kay Ash. Doreen went to a conference in Toronto, and there, at a moment when she was considering leaving the business, she was inspired by the words of Mary Kay Ash. Since then, Doreen has worked her business and reaped the rewards. Not bad for a woman who started out as a single mother looking to quit her job as a legal secretary and spend more time with her children.

Her prayers have been answered and in return, she has given to her community. She and Owen volunteer as associate counselors with a prayer ministry team. In return, she has received accolades. She was the Second Quarter Go-Give winner in February 2001, and was the feature story in Applause® Magazine in June of that year. "I feel the Lord has had his hands on this from the beginning. I feel so humbled and honoured to be able to represent our Area Independent Sales Directors – and Mary Kay – as a National Sales Director."

When I first came to Ottawa in 1986, Doreen was one of the most successful Directors in eastern Ontario. We had travelled together on top Director trips, but I really started to get to know Doreen after I moved to Ontario. As I noted with Anne Austin, we all started to work together and from that, I credit much of my success, and the fact that I have a National Area to celebrate now. Doreen was a big part of that.

The success of Doreen's former Directors at this year's Seminar is a further testament to her leadership and training. We are privileged to have Doreen with us this weekend.
